Childcare
Much has been
publicised about the government’s promise of affordable
childcare for those parents who need it.
Eastbury’s
contribution has been to open a youth club called The Youth
Zone to compliment the already existing breakfast club that is
run by the learning mentors.
The Youth Zone
operates 48 weeks of the year and is open during term time
from 3.10 to 6.00 p.m. Holiday openings are generally between
9.00 a.m and 4.00 p.m. depending on the activity programme.
The Youth Zone is a
chargeable event and costs £5.00 per year membership with 50p
subs per visit. The club has a tuck shop which sells cereal
bars, bottled water and other healthy snacks.
The Youth Zone has a
core group offer of the usual youth club activities such as
tabletennis, games and arts & crafts but it is also the
umbrella organisation which hosts the Roleplay Guild,
Community Sports Leaders, Karaoke, Street Dance, Hip Hop and
many specialist coaching awards.
All of these
activities are chargeable at 50p per attendance. The money
raised from membership and subs goes back into helping more
people get involved. You may have seen in recent newsletters
that The Youth Zone has been writing many bids to help secure
its future and to develop our offer. To date we have raised
£16k.
