It has been a long time since I went on about Futsal! Well the good news is, I’m back banging the futsal Drum! Many of you will know that last year we were once again the highest ranked school in the country and again qualified to represent England at the Futsal World Cup, this time being held in Croatia in April.
The whole process has gone along in a very low key fashion since the start of the school year, with the boys training three times a week (twice before school) and then playing various fixtures throughout many evenings. Last week the final 12 player squad was announced in preparation for our launch event on 21st March.
Therefore the email is twofold: firstly to update you and for you to congratulate the enormous dedication and effort that has been put in by all of the squad. They are in and training before most staff are in school. They deserve every praise possible for the dignity and grounded fashion they have achieved through this (which I will be the first to admit, we did not get 100% right last time around). Please congratulate all involved.

Secondly, was to invite you to share in our celebrations next week at our launch event: Monday 21st March 5-6pm in the main hall. There will be press, sponsors and VIPs in attendance, we will be presenting each player with their England shirt and celebrating their continued excellence, to qualify in the first place and their efforts in making the squad and their commitment to the cause moving forward. This is a historic event for the school, the borough and our country, it would mean a lot to the students if you could be there, no matter how briefly. It promises to be a fantastic evening, celebrating what really is phenomenal achievement.
I’m always happy to talk futsal, so if you need any more information our this, please do not hesitate to find me.
