Bread from Scratch - January 2019
On Tuesday 16th October 2018 we were visited by Neil Starling from the Falconer Trust.
The children have been collecting for the Children’s home in Kabulamema, Zambia. The home is run by the Falconer Trust which was a local charity run by a former Barking resident and nurse: Lilias Falconer.
The children collected many goods and these will now be shipped to Zambia.
Well done to all the children and families who contributed. Our gifts will be well received by the children in Kabulamema.
Primary Sports Day
On a lovely cool morning on Tuesday 10th July the Year One’s and Two’s participated in their annual Sports day. It was a culmination of all their hard work on Super PE days and PE sessions. The teachers were very proud of all the children’s efforts.
The overall winners of the Primary sports day were Red and Green teams. In second place were Yellow team and in fourth position were Blue team. Well done to all the children.
A big thank you to all the parents who participated in the Parents’ races. The children loved seeing the parents racing against one another.
Lastly well done Miss. Fenn who won the Teachers’ race.
National Bike to School Week - June 2018
The children were asked to cycle or scooter to school for one week, in order for us to participate in National Bike to School Week June 2018. We were amazed at how many children took up the challenge and have continued to do so.
The children were asked to park their bicycles or scooters safely in the bike storage areas in the morning. During afternoon playtime, the children were allowed to ride them in the playground. This was very much to the delight of the children in total across the school about 105 children participated all week.
During class time, teachers and children discussed bike safety and healthy lifestyles.
WW1 Centenary Dance Project - June 2018
The children were fortunate enough to perform to the public, as part of the Borough’s WW1 Centenary celebration. The performance took place at the Jim Peters stadium, Dagenham on Thursday 21st June 2018. In total 24 dancers from Year 1 and Year 2 took part. The children were joined by many other schools within the Borough. The children were involved in rehearsals and a dress rehearsal which required much hours of commitment.
Our thanks go to Mrs Gargrave, Mrs Serrell and Miss Tarr for offering their expertise and time for training the children.
We really hope the children enjoyed their experience and continue to dance and represent Eastbury Community.
