Yunus, year 9 in his own words on his fantastic career so far in youth football for Arsenal and England.
'I got called up for England u15s team in August 2016 to go to the first selection camp.
After that competition there was another camp at St. George's Park with some outstanding players, luckily, I got picked out of 40 players to play a match against Turkey. There were 24 of us in the squad and we won the game 5-2. It was our first international match together and the coach was extremely pleased with the team cohesion of the group. Personally, I played one of my best games, an unforgettable experience.
Not long after, in February, I got another call up to play against a tough Belgium side. We had four days to prepare, discuss ideas and train prior to the match. The day before the game I got named captain by the coach in front of all of the other players. I was lost for words and felt an incredibly happy to be captain of England. We didn't play well first half and Belgium went 4-1 up, second half we showed more fight and desire but it wasn't enough, and lost the game 4-3 with our heads held high.
This season has been great so far as I've played every game with the u15s and two games with the u16s. I hope I finish the season on a high and I can't wait to play in the next tournament in Italy.
I am very humble and know that I am fortunate to currently be in the position I am, I work extremely hard and practice to be the best that I can be. My family and school have supported me throughout my achievements in football.'
