Brussels Visit
Fifteen Eastbury students travelled to Brussels on Friday 13 May to take part in a London-Brussels educational partnership.
They left Waterloo at 6am and travelled on Eurostar, arriving in Brussels at 9.30am local time. They were greeted by Dominique De Moor, a sixth form teacher from the Institute de la Providence in Woluwe and her 15 students.
They then visited TUC Railway headquarters where each group of students delivered a 30 minute presentation to the Managing Director of TUC Railways - in French! The presentation focused on the environmental and economic impact of the new high-speed rail-link from Stratford to Brussels on the local community.
Stephen Brice (Managing Director of Topaz Consultancy) and Ian Warwick (London, Gifted and Talented) were so impressed with the standard of Eastbury's presentation it will be placed on the Union Railways website.
The partnership was so successful that the Belgian students will visit London on 7th October 2005.
The Sixth Form students were: Nelson Sivalingam, Imran Zahid, Amrana Yasmin, Meryem Topcu, Sana Bukhari, Sana Tariq, Anthony Francis, Cemil Alkis, Eden Spencer, Natalie Trayler, Deborah Stevens, Maria Clarke, Amy Debenham, Samiya Sayed and Sarah Sohail.
