Beyond the Classroom We are totally committed to providing a wide range of extra-curricular activities for all students. An exciting variety of sports and other clubs provide students with the opportunity to broaden their knowledge, skills and personal experience. Subject support clubs provide help with academic studies when needed. Various drama, dance, fashion and musical productions are organised throughout the year and are eagerly joined by students of all ages. Students have the opportunity to learn an extensive choice of musical instruments, including clarinet, drums, guitar, trumpet, tenor horn, baritone horn, piano, saxophone, trombone and flute. Numerous recreational trips and visits are offered to students, in addition to those organised to bring the day to day curriculum alive and make it relevant. There are visits to the cinema, theatre, exhibitions, museums, art galleries and major sports events, together with overseas visits, including an annual ski trip. Our excellent Physical Education department has been awarded the prestigious role of ‘Centre of Excellence for Coaching and leadership’ and our teams regularly compete with other schools in local and regional events. We have a strong tradition of nurturing excellent student leaders within our Sports Excellence Programme. Sports Leaders deliver extra-curricular clubs at local primary schools and assist at festivals run by other organisations both within and outside the borough. |
