Contact with Parents

Contact with Parents We believe that regular contact with home is vital to successful education and we are particularly eager to foster close liaison
from the beginning of a student’s career in the school.

The whole process depends on participation, trust and co-operation
between parents, students and teachers.

Every new parent is expected to attend an individual meeting with form tutors and a meeting with senior members of the school.

We want to work with parents to the advantage of all our students and
encourage all parents to contact us if they have any concerns about their child.

Reports

Parents are informed of their child’s progress once a year in a formal School
Report. This contains an assessment by the subject teachers of the work completed and suggestions for improvement. To supplement the Annual Report to parents, progress slips and student reviews keep parents informed if we have cause for celebration or concern.

Parents’ Evenings &
Achievement Days

During each year of the student’s school career, one meeting between parents and teachers is set aside for an individual private discussion about your child’s progress. All parents are encouraged to take advantage of this valuable opportunity to discuss in greater detail the progress of their child and agree strategies to help him/her reach the highest possible standards.

Complaints

In the rare event that parents have a concern about any aspect of their child’s education and general welfare, communication at the earliest possibility is encouraged to resolve it. Parents are asked to contact the appropriate Year Curriculum Co-ordinator, Head of Site, or for more
serious concerns, the Headteacher directly.  Governors, and Parent Governors in particular, are also available to parents if they wish to consult them.
