KS4 Curriculum

Subjects KS3-5

The options process is a very important time for Year 9 students.  Decisions made now may affect their education and, career pathways, job satisfaction and future economic well-being.

Students need to start thinking about:

  • Within school which subjects do I like best and am I good at them?
  • Which subjects can I take in Years 10 & 11?
  • What career do I hope to follow?
  • What qualifications will I require for my chosen career?
  • Have I chosen the most appropriate subjects/courses that suit my abilities?
  • Can I cope with the learning demands of the subjects/courses?
  • Having chosen my subjects, am I able and willing to meet my commitments?

This booklet, together with work in PSHEE and talks given by subject teachers to students, will help with the decisions to be made.A national publication called Which Way Now? is available online at www.education.gov.uk and www.cegnet.co.uk.  They provide useful information to help make decisions about subjects and future possible careers.
