Food technology has one room designed for KS3 students and 2 which are furnished and equipped to industrial standards for KS4 and 5 students.

We are fortunate to have a wide range of experience and skills within the Design and Technology Department and this is why we have a sustained and excellent year on year increase in our GCSE, BTEC and AS/A2 results.

Students follow a progressive modular learning route at Key Stage 3, in which they cover the National Curriculum programmes of study via a range of product analysis exercises, focused practical tasks and integrated design and make assignments within Food Technology, Textiles Technology, Engineering and Product design.

The department currently offers Edexcel GCSEs in Design and Technology: Graphic products and Design and Technology: Textiles and BTECs from level 1 to 3 in Engineering and Hospitality. The quality of student work in all areas is of the highest standard and the department works in a variety of innovative ways to ensure that students are provided with the means to achieve success.   To this end, students have access to a large range of study material, exemplar coursework and knowledge testing which the department has developed to assist students with coursework and examination preparation.
