Our Prefects: Student Leaders Making a Difference

At Eastbury Community School, we take pride in fostering leadership and responsibility among our students. Our Prefects play a vital role in upholding the school’s values and supporting both staff and fellow students in maintaining a positive, respectful, and inclusive school environment.

Who Are the Prefects?

Prefects are senior students selected for their outstanding leadership skills, commitment to the school community, and ability to serve as role models for their peers. They embody qualities such as integrity, empathy, teamwork, and a strong sense of responsibility.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Our Prefects contribute to the smooth functioning of the school in various ways, including:

  • Representing the Student Body: Acting as a voice for students and bringing their ideas or concerns to school leadership.
  • Promoting School Values: Leading by example in behaviour, academics, and extracurricular involvement.
  • Supporting School Events: Assisting in organizing and running school assemblies, sports days, and other activities.
  • Mentoring Younger Students: Offering guidance and support to junior students, helping them feel welcomed and included.
  • Maintaining Discipline: Helping to ensure school rules are followed in a fair and respectful manner.

  1. Application: Students interested in becoming Prefects submit an application outlining their skills and experience.
  2. Interviews: Shortlisted candidates participate in an interview with teachers or school leadership.
  3. Peer and Staff Feedback: Input is sought from staff and peers to ensure candidates are respected and trusted.
  4. Appointment: Successful candidates are announced and take an oath to fulfil their duties with integrity.

  • Develop leadership and communication skills.
  • Build confidence and resilience.
  • Make a meaningful impact on the school community.
  • Strengthen university or job applications with demonstrated leadership experience.
