WELCOME TO EASTBURY - A message for students from the Executive Head Teacher Mr David Dickson
It is a privilege to lead this successful and happy school and to work in partnership with such enthusiastic pupils, dedicated staff and supportive families and governors.
At Eastbury Community School, we have the highest expectations and ambitions for every pupil. The current Covid-19 has presented us all with many challenges, and I am extremely pleased to see that you are all settling very well into our new routines. I am extremely proud of you all for keeping yourself, your friends and family safe. As a 3-19 school, all of our secondary phase pupils, and older primary phase pupils, have a responsibility to be excellent role models for our primary pupils. When the pandemic is over you will also resume taking an active part in their education.
We want you to be able to play a full part in society in a period of rapid change.
We are committed to providing you with an excellent all round education leading to the highest possible qualifications.
We recognise that academic qualifications need to be underpinned with the development of self-confidence, resilience, work-place skills and the ability to respond positively to new challenges. To this end we encourage you to develop self-discipline, independence and responsibility for your own actions and learning; alongside the ability to think, be inquisitive and reflective, communicate and make informed decisions.
Our success is founded on the traditional values of academic excellence, self-discipline, responsibility and respect for others. We see our school as a caring and supportive family. I am always very impressed when I see you helping and supporting younger pupils in both the primary and secondary.
We are a well-ordered school, promoting pupil leadership, community service, healthy lifestyles and an outstanding range of leadership, sporting and cultural opportunities. We treat all pupils as individuals with different talents to be nurtured and celebrated, in a safe environment.
Eastbury is in a better position than at any time in our history. With the completion of the final phase of building works, improved facilities and the professionalism and dedication of staff, we look forward to working with you and become one of the best schools in the world.
I want you all to adhere to our strong British values and make the most of the exciting opportunities we provide at Eastbury.
David Dickson, Executive Head Teacher
