School students turn Santa s little helpers
Pupils from Eastbury Community School have been spreading the Christmas spirit by sending presents to children in St. Lucia and Dominica.
On Tuesday 16 October 2018 we were visited by Neil Starling from the Falconer Trust.
On Wednesday 17th October, 10 Politics and R.E. students attended a ‘Question Time’ style event at Westminster Abbey where they got to engage in current affairs with other sixth form schools from around London.

Year 2 have been learning about Oceans in Geography. Each group were designated a different ocean and the children had to design their oceans based on the fact sheet that they had in front of them.

A video montage of students visit to Greece in May 2017. During the visit students visited the historical sites in Athens but also worked as volunteers as part of a turtle conservation project. With the main aim of returning and reducing the amount of single-use plastics at the school.
On Wednesday 11th of October, Neil Starling of the Falconer Trust came to our assembly to collect the groceries we’d ‘Harvested for the Kabulamema Orphanage in Zambia.

The governing body of Eastbury School has a vacancy for Parent Governor. The governing body works in partnership with the Executive Headteacher and Senior Leadership Team to promote continuous improvement in the school’s performance.
Well done to Natasha Iqbal and Abdul Ishola who made the Regional Final for the French Spelling Bee.
On Thursday 27th April staff and parents came together at the Broadway Theatre to celebrate three of our students at the Jack Petchey Awards evening.
For the THIRD CONSECUTIVE YEAR our u16 futsal team have won the Southern Regional finals!
Year 1 And Reception had an exciting learning session with our Year 8 Science Ambassadors.
The Year 1 have been learning about the past and how our grandparents spent their childhood. We learnt about toys, schools and music
Students from year 10 and 11 took part in their final workshop on Monday 13th March for the HeadStart Challenge. They took part in a variety of activities including; English and maths skills tests, team building and developing employability skills.
Yet again, another fantastic season from the Year 9 Netball Team, scoring a total of 114 goals across 5 games.

This week has been another history making one for the Year 10 Netball team. Having won the Borough League and Borough Rally (again) the girls confidence was high going into the residential National Tournament at PGL in Swindon this weekend. This was an U16 tournament open to year 11 teams throughout the whole country including academies.

On Monday 20th March, 25 year 10 students were invited to attend the annual 'Livery Companies showcase event' at Guildhall. The livery companies of the City of London play a significant part in City life, by providing charitable-giving and networking opportunities.
Sixth Form students from Politics, Sociology and Science got the opportunity to meet Margaret Hodge MP and discuss how to bring about social change in Barking & Dagenham.

On 23 January 2017 the following amazing Y12 students blew me, and several members of the science community, away. Aylin, Daniel, Martynas, Jorgen and Dorjan were absolutely superb ambassadors of our school and indeed the state sector, as they represented us at the Royal Society Partnership Conference.
As you will be aware, we are a Healthy School and conform to the national school food st andards. We have noticed a small number of students are bringing high energy and sugary drinks into school.
As part of our careers education and guidance programme we held our annual careers fair on Wednesday 25th January 2017.
On Thursday 26th January, a selected group of students in year 9 took part in a careers workshop on ‘making informed decisions’ about their career pathway.

Year 11 GCSE groups had a four hour ceramics workshop on Saturday 21st January.

EASTBURY v BARKING ABBEY: 30 – 4Eastbury’s first Netball match saw a fantastic victory by an outstanding performance from the Year 9 Team.
On Tuesday, 8th November the KS3 girls badminton team were victorious winning gold at the Borough Badminton Tournament and will go onto represent Barking and Dagenham at the East London School Games.

Eastbury Community School in Hulse Avenue, Barking helped 61 per cent of students get A* C grades in English and maths.
But headteacher David Dickson was most proud of another statistic.
Primary Information: The gates will open at 8.50. Parents will be able to wait in the playground and entry to Year 1 classes will be 8.55 - 9.00. The class room doors will shut and any late comers must enter via the Primary office entrance. Parents will be admitted onto the playground at 3.10 for 3.15 finish time.

Can I remind all parents that the school year ends of Friday 15 July at 12.30. Students are reminded that they must eat at first break. If the excellent behaviour continues we will have an option non-uniform day where students are requested to make a 1 donation to charity.

Sam Came to Choice in September 2014 from Eastbury Comprehensive school in Dagenham, he said he always wanted to do Plumbing as a career.
This year a group of year 8 students worked alongside spoken word poets and professional animators to create a poem and animation inspired by their own ideas and feelings.

The Art Department would like to share some excellent news with you all; all of our current yr13 Fine Art students have been accepted into further education.
This week two groups of engineering students from Eastbury Community School visited the Weavers Quarter construction site next to Barking town centre.

Our outstanding Year 9 Sports Leaders were in action again yesterday (Wednesday 8th June) helping at the Access Sport Ignite Multi Sport Event for deaf and disabled young people at the The Copperbox Arena in the Olympic Park.
On Sunday 5th June we travelled the short journey to Brunel University to compete in the regional tournament, having won the Essex tournament back in February.
Hundreds of primary age children are set to take up places at an expanding secondary school this autumn.
The Year 9 football team played Redden Court School at Dagenham and Redbridge football stadium on Friday 13th May.
This academic year, our school has been working with the mental health charity, SANE (www.sane.org.uk), to improve awareness of, and combat the stigma surrounding mental health.
?The Art department together with child protection and science teacher Megan Greet (a SANE ambassador) ran two competitions in the spring term.
On the 11th and 18th May 2016, yr10 GCSE Art students visited the ‘The National Gallery’ permanent collection and worked with practicing portraiture artist, Robin-Lee Hall.

At school, behaviour and learning are part of our children's responsibility. Remind them we all have a responsibility to learn in our classes as lots of children can't go to school.
Eastbury’s Year 8 rugby team had the opportunity to play in a rugby 7s tournament at the Allianz Stadium, home of Rugby Premiership Champions Saracens.
On Wednesday 11th May, 40 year 7 students attended Show Racism the Red Card (SRtRC) workshops at school in partnership with West Ham United Foundation.
On Friday 6th May 25 students in year 10 took part in a ‘building motivation’ workshop, which aims to increase students’ confidence and motivation by exploring the barriers that might be preventing them from fulfilling their potential and coming up with solutions.
At our parent coffee meeting this week, we had a 'stay and read'. It was a fun occasion and very well attended!
The BTEC year 13 group organised the House dodge ball tournament on Thursday 28th April. A fantastic turnout from all 10 form groups and every game was played with a great spirit and attitude.
Fifteen year 8 students assisted in the Trinity Youth Games on Thursday 28th April.
Confirmed cases of measles in London
We write to inform you that there have been cases of measles reported in children in London in the past three months.
Two students, Sheikh and Katarzyna in year 10, performed fantastically during their work experience.
Myra Nasim in Year 7 completed at the most prestigious tournament in England – The EKF English National Karate Championships in Sheffield, where she won Gold.
